Bill James, who wrote most of his early works as a security night guard, is now a baseball analyst with the Boston Red Sox, and his works are held with legendary regard.

The Athletics, to this day, remain underfunded and have what are considered the worst clubhouse facilities in baseball.

The book is parodied in a Simpsons episode, in which Bart's Little League baseball team is managed using sabermetric principles. Bill James also makes an appearance in the episode, entitled “MoneyBART.”

After the publication of the book, many other Major League teams began exploring sabermetrics. Billy Beane later acknowledged that the publicity of Moneyball probably negatively affected the success of the A’s unique approach.

Nick Swisher, the young prospect selected by the A’s in the first round, is now a superstar player with the richest team in baseball, the New York Yankees.

Bill James’ original “Baseball Abstract” is now extremely rare and sought after by baseball enthusiasts around the world.

In the A’s historic 2002 season, their starting shortstop, Miguel Tejada ended up being the AL MVP.

The Athletics’ three star pitchers -- Barry Zito, Tim Hudson, and Mark Mulder -- were considered a part of one of the greatest pitching staffs of all time. All three went on to sign huge, multi-million dllar contracts.
